Our Heritage

Heritage Banner

We are one London’s oldest removal companies having being established in 1962 and are very proud of our fifty year heritage. We are not the oldest company, but we think we have learned a thing or two about how to do a good move.

The business was originally called Taxi Moves and our vans and trucks used to have meters designed to measure time and mileage in the same way as taxi meters work. The business was based on the roundabout in Swiss Cottage and run by Ben Bloch and his wife Liz.

Following the deregulation of HGV’s in the early seventies we started to acquire larger vehicles and we are able for the first time to challenge our larger competitors on price and standards of service. The business continued to flourish during the eighties and became one of London best known and we would like to think much respected removals companies. Membership of the British Association of Removers followed but we have still maintained our ability to challenge the conventional wisdom and look to innovate if we think of new ways to do things differently or create new services.

In the 80’s we started our own courier division which rapidly grew to be one of London’s best known names in London based upon the strong links we are already had with the business community. (Insert Courier Shot).

After Ben’s retirement in 1994, the business was run by Charles Rickards and Tim Bloch and then sold to institutional investors in 1998, but reacquired by the Ward Thomas Group in 2005 which brought Tim and Charles back to the business. In 2009 his son Jake joined and now runs IT for the whole group.
